Basic Health

Basic Health offers quality, low-cost health coverage to eligible people who live in Washington State. The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) contracts with Community Health Plan of Washington and other health plans to offer Basic Health and Basic Health Plus coverage.

If you are not currently a Basic Health member

Apply for Basic Health: Basic Health is not currently processing or screening applications for eligibility. New applicants are placed on a waiting list in the order they come in. (There are some exceptions.) When space becomes available in the future, Basic Health will release names from the list in the order of the date they came in. Basic Health will notify applicants when this happens.

To find out more about eligibility or to get on the waiting list, see the Basic Health web site or call 1-800-660-9840.

If you are a Basic Health member

Retain Basic Health membership: Basic Health enrollment is limited. If you lose your enrollment, you risk losing your health insurance and being placed on a waiting list for re-enrollment. You can help retain your enrollment in the program by:

  • Paying all of your premiums on time.
  • Responding to all requests for information from Basic Health and from Community Health Plan promptly.

Basic Health Member Health Information Portal

Members of state-subsidized Basic Health are invited to use the new Health Information Portal (HIP). This online service enables you to get up-to-date information about your Community Health Plan eligibility, benefits, authorizations for service, and claims and to enroll in a disease management program.

If you are a member of the Community Health Plan Basic Health (state-subsidized) program and want to sign up to access the Community Health Plan Health Information Portal, click here.

Please note: At this time the Community Health Plan Health Information Portal (HIP) is designed to serve only Basic Health (state-subsidized) program enrollees.

Basic Health members also get free access to health risk assessment tools and rich health information through the WorldDoc 24/7 Personal Health Management System. If you are a Basic Health or a Washington Health Program member, you are welcome to log on and use these resources.
